The world brought forth by perception is a dream. It is simply a bundle of illusions in the mind of a sleeper who does not know she dreams. We are encouraged to awaken from this dream by giving attention to it with and through the Holy Spirit, which is a symbol of the aspect of our mind that does not sleep and is not confused by the dream. The Holy Spirit gently awakens us by teaching us that this world and our apparent life in it are illusory and that we do not want illusions. Like a light in the distance coming closer and closer, its rays making more and more visible around it, our mind begins to perceive its true powers of creation and decision. When we are fully awakened, there is no memory of the dream. No remnant of it exists in the real world. In this sense it is like our nightly dreams in the body – they are real in the mind that dreams them but upon waking, they disappear, along with their apparent effects.
