Judgment is how the mind that believes it is separate functions. Perceiving differences, it proceeds to make those differences real by taking them literally – categorizing them, naming them, evaluating them, ranking them, comparing them. Ego lives by judgment; it pretends it’s just looking for the right thing to do or the best path to take but its true interest is in judgment, which is the great preserver of conflict (which is ego’s manna). Our judgment is always lacking because we do not see the whole picture. We can only see fragments and fractions. Therefore, our evaluation is always partial and always unreliable. This is what separation is! Our goal with judgment is to let it go by deferring to the Holy Spirit. We give all situations and circumstances over to the Holy Spirit and let it to teach us what is best, right or most helpful in a given moment. The Holy Spirit recognizes our dissociation but because it has not forgotten God it also remembers the whole which is served only by Love. Gradually, our ability to let the Holy Spirit decide for us becomes second nature. When this happens, we become Christ, helping Jesus to complete the work of peace and love to which he is dedicated.
