Last Judgment is a traditional Christian term that A Course in Miracles upends to its own happy end. In traditional Christianity, the last judgment is a moment in history when Jesus returns to gather the saved to take them to Heaven while the balance – unrepentant or insufficiently repentant sinners – are condemned to an eternity in hell. ACIM takes this terrifying concept and inverts it. The last judgment simply reflects a shared decision to choose to learn with the Holy Spirit and to see one’s brothers and sisters as friends rather than opponents. It is a right use of judgment that guides us in how to best use our mind in the service of peace. It recognizes not sin which may or may not be frogiven, but errors which can be corrected. Thus, it testifies to the wholeness of the Creation as it remembers itself.
