Perception is variable. The perceived world is volatile, unpredictable and set apart from the one who views it. Perception can be stabilized sufficiently to make a path to knowledge, but it is always conditional and partial, and never reaches the real world. Perception is ego’s domain, because it must be interpreted, and ego offers itself as an interpreter. Given to ego, perception testifies to scarcity, lack and fear. Yet given to the Holy Spirit, it reminds us of our shared interest in remembering the wholeness of God‘s Love, and thus undoes the unhappy dream of separation.
