Fear is a mainstay of separation and of guilt. We fear ourselves, we fear God and we fear our brothers and sisters. None of this is possible if we do not believe we are also separated from all of them. Therefore, fear becomes an inevitable effect of following the ego‘s teaching; it is the seemingly impenetrable wall that obscures love and peace. Fear teaches us not to look at what is within – we don’t want to see what scares us. We both deny what is fearful, and we project what is fearful and then deny that we’ve projected it. Coming to terms with fear is a key healing concept of A Course in Miracles. Only by facing our fear and learning that it is illusory and thus without any effects can we remember the love that we both have and are.
