A Course in Miracles Lesson 75

The light has come.

The 75th lesson of A Course in Miracles is both a celebration of what we are in truth and an opportunity for gratitude. We celebrate that which knows it is an extension of God’s wholly loving will. And we are grateful for the learners and teachers who make “the happy ending of our long dream of disaster” (W-pI.75.2:1) possible.

Today the time of light begins for you and everyone. It is a new era, in which a new world is born. The old one has left no trace upon it in its passing. Today we see a different world, because the light has come (W-pI.75.2:3-7).

This lesson is an invitation to reflect on our study, and to notice the way in which it has gently but clearly steered us to the “single purpose” (W-pI.75.4:3) of waking with our brothers and sisters from our dream of “darkness and turmoil and death” (W-pI.75.1:6).

Forgiveness – our commitment to seeing from our own holiness which naturally occurs as a condition of remembering that only God’s Will exists – makes vision and its healing effects inevitable.

Understand that the Holy Spirit never fails to give the gift of sight to the forgiving. Believe He will not fail you now . . . He will show you what true vision sees (W-pI.75.7:2-3, 6).

The light to which A Course in Miracles refers here is not the light by which the body’s eyes see. It is closer to the light of understanding – the light in which we know ideas or concepts, like “God is Love” or “mercy is justice recognized.”

Thus, we are not looking for a physical experience so much as a mindful one – one that is premised in abstraction and, as such, cannot be contained by a body (including a brain). After all, is the idea that “God is Love” limited to your brain? Your life?

If we can see the truth of this – and recall as well the core ACIM principle that ideas do not leave their source (T-26.VII.4:7) – then we will be well on our way to the happiness that is the course’s goal for us, and the necessary condition for our awakening unto oneness with God.

  1. Hi Sean. I was seeing the light in the ones I hold grievances against and I was one of them.
I’m grateful for your beautiful insights.

    1. Thanks for reading, Kathy. And yes: holding grievances against the self is real and absolutely keeps us from the light of God. Good to see it and good to give it over . . .

      Love,
      Sean

  2. Thank you for your postings. In these days it’s easy to be anxious and fearful. Remembering I am one with god and spending quiet time is really helpful. I appreciate your thoughts 💕🙏😷

  3. Today l reviewed this lesson: “The Light has come”.

There are some beautiful ideas in this lesson such as, “Attack and grievances are not there to choose. That is why I always choose between truth and illusion; between what is there and what is not”.

l’m getting so much out of the reviews, as l didn’t really understand what l was doing when l did the original lessons. During my ordinary meditation, (which l do in addition to the longer practice period of the lesson), l began forgiving the event and/or circumstance linked to each thought as it came up, that had anything to do with anything l didn’t like or want, or any event l have been avoiding or justifying. l’d already dedicated the day to settling in, to surrendering into forgiveness and the opportunity to forgive, (before l began meditating).

The Holy Spirit seemed to realise what was happening and invited me to, “Think with me”. As l did, He presented me with opportunity after opportunity to to forgive situations, events, body symptoms and many illusions in the dream. l ended up doing a general all encompassing forgiveness of all illusions in and from the dream, as well as the dream itself.

The Holy Spirit seemed to be teaching me how to think more rapidly with him and how to move more quickly from one idea to the next. He seemed to be flying from one area of my mind to another and to my surprise, l found myself keeping pace with Him. Previously the pace has been much slower. Not today though – the Holy Spirit was flat out reminding me of the many grievances l have to forgive 😉 and wasted no time on capitalising on my willingness.

As the Holy Spirit seemed to fly through my mind showing me the many grievances that were awaiting my forgiveness, He continually showed me the image he’d shown me several months ago (linked to the Course about asking to be shown our real home). lt was a beautiful image of the loving light with the indescribable quality of eternal serenity and it encompassed a feeling of complete perfection, which was who we are, when we are at home. l experienced being this light with others, who were also this light, when it was first shown to me.

Also, during this meditation, l felt a distinctly different way about the Holy Spirit. l felt His absolute and unending dedication to me, in in the same way he has for the Father, which l also felt, as well as feeling His same unending dedication to the whole Sonship and every Son of God. lt was an indescribable feeling, but rock solid, and very reassuring to the point of my being very taken aback by it. He saw only the truth inside me and l felt completely ‘one’ with Him for the first time. Again, it was an indescribable experience. l felt and saw the inside ‘barriers’ of my mind dissolving and dropping away. It was a vey beautiful and healing experience.

He wanted me to share because “sharing is love”.

    Blessings,
    Jayney
